MLPC International develop first viable alternative to the ETU rubber accelerator

3 February 2012 by claire.smith

MLPC International, part of the Arkema Group of companies, is in the final stages of developing a real and viable alternative to the Ethylene Thiourea (ETU) rubber accelerator.

As the world’s leading producer of thioureas, MLPC International have addressed the needs to find a performance alternative to ETU, due to ongoing concerns regarding the handling of the product.

Initial results on the preferred replacement were presented at the recent rubber Expo in Lyon, under the development name of Mixland+ New.  ETU is a very useful accelerator in a number of elastomers, but particularly chloroprene rubbers, where very good heat ageing and compressive set are seen.  Mix+ New shows very comparable properties with none of the associated handling concerns.

This new product is targeted to be available early 2012 for field testing in the market place.
