’3 Peaks’ Challenge

The climb begins…

Half way up, and already soaking wet!

A number of keen walkers from Hubron have undertaken a rather extended 3 peaks challenge. Having completed Snowdon by the Pyg Trail last year, Scafell Pike was completed on May 14th. In rather difficult weather and visibility, as can be seen from the photographs, the walk took the route via Taylors Gill and the Corridor to the hidden summit. When the mist did clear, the views on the way up were outstanding, across Borrowdale towards Derwentwater. Visibility at the summit was 20 metres, so the promised views across to the Isle of Man were shrouded in mist. A very tired band of walkers completed the walk in just under 8 hours. Ben Nevis awaits later in the summer.

Finally at the summit!

A real 3 peaks challenge is being undertaken at the end of May by Betty Fellows, the wife of Speciality’s Southern Regional Manager Stuart Fellows. Raising monies for the BLISS UK charity, which provides care for sick and premature babies, Betty will be in a sponsored team of 8 that looks to complete all 3 peaks in 24 hours.
